Hello! My name is Tammie Songen, I have worked in the Pembroke School District since 2010. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree for Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education from Rhode Island College. My Master of Education degree is from Plymouth State University for Reading and Writing Specialist. During my graduate program I dedicated much of my research to understanding more about dyslexia, orthographic processing disorders and the learning brain. Most recently, I have become Wilson certified. Wilson Language Training prepares teachers to effectively support students with language based learning disabilities, such as dyslexia. For the last six years I have been a special education teacher at Hill and before that, I taught second grade. I am very excited to be going back into the classroom this year!
