Hello Pembroke families! My name is Kayla Granoff and I am the proud art teacher of students in grades K-4 at Pembroke Village and Pembroke Hill. My teaching career started here in Pembroke in 2015, and since then I have been very fortunate to get to know over 500 creative learners and their families. Prior to joining Pembroke, I student taught at Dover High School and Deerfield Community School, earning a k-12 teaching certification for Arts Education. I completed both my BA in Studio Art and my Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) at the University of New Hampshire.
I am a strong believer in the benefits of Arts Education, and what this content area can offer to the 21st Century student. In the art classroom, there is an emphasis on the student’s development of the 4 C’s, Communication, Creativity, Collaboration, and Critical Thinking. The art program at PHS and PVS is aligned to the National Core Art Standards, encouraging students to create original works of art, reflect on process in order to revise, make connections, and present work effectively.
In addition to teaching art, I have coached both field hockey and lacrosse at Pembroke Academy this year. In my free time I like to do yoga, make pottery, and spend time with friends and family.
